VP, Global Customer Marketing

Michelle Klein is the VP of Global Customer Marketing at Facebook. In this role, Michelle sets the global vision and strategy for how Facebook connects people and businesses across the ecosystem of agencies, marketing partners, and advertisers big and small. With a passion for building communities, Michelle has explored people-first strategies throughout her career spanning B2B and B2C marketing, advertising, public relations, and journalism.

Prior to joining Facebook in 2014, Michelle led global marketing for Smirnoff, headquartered in Australia. She spent 7+ years reinventing the 150-year-old brand, owned by the multinational beverage giant Diageo, to ensure it remained relevant in a fast-evolving customer market and competitor category. The biggest challenge she faced, however, was modernizing the brand in a way that would win new age consumers without alienating the existing fanbase.

Michelle kick-started her career in public relations in Australia. She wrote a weekly column for Australia’s leading broadsheet, The Sydney Morning Herald, and then moved to London where she was the Global Group Director of the British Airways account at Agency.com.

Throughout her career, Michelle has been recognized as driving the marketing and advertising industry forward. She was one of Holmes Report’s “Top 25 Innovators” in 2015, an Ad Age “Women to Watch” in 2013, and an Ad Week “Brand Genius” in 2011.

Michelle sits on the Board of Directors for WIN (Women In Need) focused on providing shelter and housing to homeless families, and MAKERS focused on furthering equality in the workplace.
